Thriving, Not Just Coping

Hormonal Health, Executive Function & Neurodivergence Across Life

This business breakfast will provide health and mental health professionals with an evidence-informed understanding of how hormonal changes can affect executive function, emotional regulation, sensory processing, identity, confidence and daily functioning across life stages.

The session will explore why women may suddenly feel overwhelmed across work, home, parenting, relationships and everyday life, and how these experiences can be better understood as changes in capacity rather than capability.

Session Focus: Hormonal Health, Executive Function and Neurodivergence Across Life

This session will examine the relationship between hormonal health, executive function and neurodivergence, with a focus on how hormonal transitions can affect cognition, emotional regulation, sensory processing and whole-life functioning.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how executive function operates in everyday life, how hormonal shifts may influence attention, working memory, fatigue and emotional regulation, and why neurodivergent traits may feel more pronounced during key hormonal stages such as the menstrual cycle, postpartum period, perimenopause and menopause.

The session will also highlight the importance of collaborative care, bringing together medical, psychological and occupational therapy perspectives to better support women across different life stages. Practical strategies will be shared to help professionals support clients with cognitive load, decision fatigue, sensory overwhelm, emotional regulation, routines and workplace functioning.
