Empowering School Counsellors: Skills, Supervision and Support 

This installment of the school counsellor’s training course will enable attendees to become aware of the importance of culturally informed approaches in psychological and therapy in the school counsellors’content. 

 

Session Focus: Culturally Informed Practice in School Counselling 

This session will explore the importance of culturally and spiritually informed approaches within school-based psychological practice, with a focus on supporting Muslim students and families. Attendees will develop a deeper understanding of Islamic principles relevant to therapy, alongside practical skills in culturally sensitive assessment, interviewing, and intervention. Through case discussions and supervision, counsellors will be equipped with strategies to deliver more responsive, respectful, and effective care within diverse school communities.

Programme for the Session: 

8:30am – 9:00am  – Registration. 

9:00am – 10:30am – Islamic principles relevant to psychotherapy, religious and spiritual contexts that shape Muslim client’s care. 

10:30am – 11:00am – Coffee break and networking. 

11:00am – 12:00pm  – Working with Muslim clients in therapy culturally sensitive interviewing in Muslim clients care. 

12:00pm – 1:00pm – Case discussion and solution focused approaches. 

1:00pm -1:30pm – Case supervision.

Attendance is free. 

Optional KHDA-attested attendance certificates are available for AED 150. 

Registration is required as places are limited.
