School counsellors across the UAE have been carrying an increased emotional and psychological load in recent weeks. This 90-minute EMDR group therapy session is designed to support you in processing these experiences and restoring a sense of calm and balance. Grounded in an evidence-based, structured protocol, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychological therapy that helps the brain process distressing experiences, reducing their emotional intensity and impact.
This initiative will be led by Dr Dina Bedair, Clinical Director at Therapy by Insights and Director of Mental Health Services at Insights Psychology, and supported by additional EMDR-trained practitioners within the team.
Delivered by Clinical Psychologists and certified EMDR practitioners, this group format is not in-depth trauma therapy, but rather a guided, supportive intervention to help regulate the nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and enhance your capacity to support others. Participants are not required to share personal details; instead, the process focuses on internal processing in a safe, contained environment.
Research shows that EMDR can reduce distress, emotional reactivity, and sensitivity to triggers—such as loud noises, uncertainty, or exposure to others’ experiences—helping you feel more grounded, resilient, and present in your work with students. Ultimately, this session is about “putting your oxygen mask on first,” enabling you to care for yourself so you can continue to effectively support the children and young people in your care.
