Community Development Authority (CDA, Dubai) Licensed Psychologist | Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, UK) Registered
Dr Rea Powell is a Licensed Psychologist who completed her doctoral training in Counselling Psychology at the University of South Wales. She has extensive experience working across UK and UAE, including community mental health teams and community learning disability services.
Dr Rea is trained across a range of therapeutic modalities and gravitates towards a systemic way of working. This means understanding a person not in isolation, but within the context of their relationships, environment, culture, and life experiences. She has experience delivering evidence-based interventions and contributing to comprehensive psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments, supporting holistic, integrated formulations and care planning. She has a strong focus on neurodevelopmental assessments, particularly ADHD and autism, and is a skilled lead assessor within multidisciplinary (MDT) assessment teams, adopting a neuroaffirmative and strengths-based approach.
Dr Rea also has extensive experience supporting people living with long term health conditions. She has worked within NHS persistent pain services, long term health condition management, cardiac rehabilitation, and cancer services, supporting individuals with Fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue, Endometriosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a wide range of other health conditions.
Dr Rea understands that many people can spend years searching for answers, treatment, or a way to “fix” their condition. Her approach acknowledges the genuine physical and emotional impact of living with ongoing symptoms, while helping people move towards a full and meaningful life alongside their condition. Therapy can focus on adjusting to changes, managing difficult thoughts and emotions, reconnecting with valued activities, and developing a life that is not defined solely by symptoms or a diagnosis.
