Dr Lara Omran is a DHA licensed Clinical Psychologist with a commitment to providing children, young people, families and adults with a safe, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic environment to help them feel understood and empowered in their care.
Academically, Lara completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia, alongside her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Cognitive Science at the University of Toronto. Professionally, Lara has worked across the life span with diverse clinical areas including depression, anxiety, psychosis, grief, self-harm, trauma, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASD and ADHD. She takes a neuroaffirming approach to her work, ensuring that each person’s unique profile is understood and integrated into her therapeutic work.
Lara’s therapeutic practice is recovery-focused and grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Having grown up in the UAE and worked across multicultural contexts (including Canada, the UK, UAE and Malaysia), Lara is particularly attuned to the ways in which culture, identity, and lived experience can shape a person’s mental health and sense of self.
