Groups

Positively Me! Ages 8-10 years

Attendees will be encouraged to explore communication and identify their preferred communication styles, with the aim of facilitating better connections with family and peers. Self-advocacy will be promoted, and children will be invited to share strategies that have worked well for them.

What to Expect:
  • A relaxed environment for young people to meet other likeminded individuals, opportunity for fun, play, and connections.
  • This is a neuro-affirmative group where autism is celebrated. Participants should be aware of their autism diagnosis before joining the group sessions.
  • It is not a drop-in group; participants should be committed to attending all six sessions. Due to the practical nature of the group, online participants cannot be accommodated at this time.
  • Participants will learn about autism and neurodiversity using a strengths-based approach. Young people are encouraged to bring and share their special interests with the group.
  • In parallel with this children’s support group, parents will be invited to attend a parent support group at our clinic, running at the same time. This is an opportunity for parents to share experiences, ideas, and parenting strategies that have been successful for them. The cost of the parent support group is included in the overall fee.
