ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training in Dubai
Training Department - February 18, 2018Although ASIST is a well-known course and methodology used in many countries world wide, this course was the first of it's kind to be delivered in Dubai and the Middle East. Attendees on this occasion, were mostly professionals with an interest in the field - psychologists, mental health nurses and general practitioner physicians. It should be noted however, that this course is open to all adults that are interested in developing their skills in this area.
This is a two day workshop, delivered in-person in Dubai UAE. It is a KHDA registered course and DHA points have been secured for professionals that wish to attend.
Like all of the core programmes delivered by LivingWorks, LivingWorks ASIST is evidence-based. Here's what over 30 peer-reviewed studies and government reports on LivingWorks ASIST found:
- Improves trainee skills and readiness
- Safe for trainees, with no adverse effects from training
- Interventions shown to increase hope and reduce suicidality
- Training shown to increase general counseling and listening skills
- Saving lives and costs, yielding return on investment of up to 50:1
These ASIST trainers will be back in Dubai in November 2019 to deliver the course through Insights Psychology for the second time. They will also visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to deliver the course to selected professionals through The National Committee for Mental Health Promotion. Please get in contact with [email protected] if you are interested in attending either course.
