Empowering Conversations, helping children and their families understand their neurodivergent identity.

Empowering conversations, helping children and their families understand their neurodivergent identity

A practical course for teachers and school staff focused on building confidence in having supportive, compassionate, and neuroaffirmative conversations with families about noticing differences in children and young people.

Course Focus:

This training explores how to sensitively approach conversations around developmental, learning, social, emotional, and neurodevelopmental differences without pathologising children or placing families on the defensive. Participants will develop practical strategies for discussing concerns kindly and confidently, understanding parent responses such as overwhelm, fear, denial, or guilt, and learning how to “plant seeds” of support early so children do not continue to fall through gaps year after year.

The course will also focus on:
• Neuroaffirmative language and communication
• When and how to approach difficult conversations
• Supporting families through uncertainty and next steps
• Timelines for communication and ongoing collaboration
• Emotional support for teachers navigating these discussions
• Building stronger partnerships between schools and families
