Night Shift

Job Summary

A Changeover Technician is responsible for the entire set-up, from last part produced to first part approved after change over. Must be capable of changing over and starting up every piece of equipment in the facility. Work safely and follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) rules; monitor the condition of the equipment and report any damage to maintenance; prepare reports and paperwork as required; complete changeover of each line in a timely manner to minimize downtime; troubleshoot problems upon startup of a line and correct any issues as they occur. Arrive on time daily; perform job safely, productively, and produce quality product; responsible for the entire tool set up of the line including meeting housekeeping and “Good Manufacturing Procedures”; perform job effectively and efficiently; meet production volume expectations posted daily; exhibit team work; ensure statistics are recorded completely and accurately daily; learn the job requirements based on company expectations; follow company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect tools before installation, and after removal, to insure all parts are in good working condition.
  • Report on tool performance (initiate tool Work Order form); report any deviation from standard to ensure good performance
  • Perform repairs to installed Tooling to ensure down time is minimized, able to meet Schedule.
  • Responsible for quality of parts coming off Thermoformers, especially related to knife set-ups, Match Metal Set-ups, and proper forming.
  • Clearly establish the proper process parameters for every production item.
  • Ensures that Safety switches and guards are always in place and working.
  • Maintain all thermoforming areas used for changeovers neat and organized.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the Supervisor immediately upon discovery.
  • Complete Maintenance Work Orders, report work done, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Fill out the daily time sheet as to tasks performed and time spent on job.
  • When production process permits, assist maintenance department in whatever activity needed. Assist Production Manager in any tasks that may be required at the time.
  • Must be able and willing to train operators in basic safety and operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • An in-depth, detailed knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical processes (thermoforming or previous changeover experience preferred).
  • Analytically oriented to troubleshoot and establish root cause of problems.
  • Qualified fork truck operator
  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school diploma
  • Candidate who is mechanically inclined and a plus is someone with 3 years’ experience in machine maintenance in the plastics industry.

Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent handling of 4000+ lbs. on roll carts.
  • Good manual dexterity to sort and pack parts
  • Mental alertness and good vision
  • Standing on feet up to 12 hours a day
  • Use of hands to write for labeling, counting, and reporting
  • Withstand extreme heat temperatures frequently during the summer months
  • Work in a continuous production environment
  • Climbing on top of machines and silos for setup, cleaning, or troubleshooting

Schedule Requirements

Ability to work 12 hours shift: 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on a 2-2-3 work schedule.

Availability to work weekends

Availability to work overtime as required
